PMI Portland – Chapter Meeting

PMI Portland Chapter holds a Chapter meeting for members and non-members on the third Tuesday of the month, September through June. Chapter meetings include an educational presentation, networking hour, new member welcome meeting, dinner, and a keynote presentation. Speakers come from Project Management related disciplines across the spectrum and the meetings have proven to be valuable time spent by all attendees. Project Managers with PMI certifications can earn 2 PDUs for each Chapter meeting attended.

Mitigating Cognitive Biases in Projects with Candor

Behavioral project management (BPM) works with, what is known in behavioral economics as, cognitive biases to improve adaptive performance in projects. Candor has the ability to mitigate several cognitive biases such as courtesy bias, authority bias, optimism and pessimism biases. In this session, we will explore how these biases work against us on a project and how to use candor to mitigate them as team members and leaders.
