Microsoft Teams Preview

Avatar

Did you know Microsoft Teams is used by over 325,000 organizations and supports more than 43 languages? Have you ever wondered what people are doing in Teams besides chatting with one another?

Microsoft has released several new features over the past few months that we would like to introduce to you–a Microsoft Teams Preview. Whether you are a Fortune 100 company or a Nonprofit, this tool has something for everyone.

Developer Platform Enhancements

  • Adaptive Cards: This card system allows for flexibility across Teams, Outlook, Windows, and Cortana.
  • Microsoft Graph: Several new APIs have been introduced for automating team lifecycles. Some of the new APIs are for tab creation, publishing apps, and application permission.

 Meetings

  • Background Blur: Now you can take care of that busy airport noise in the background from distracting people in your meeting. This feature is also great for people who work from home and have kids running around or other distractions that might pop up during your video.
  • Meeting Recording: Just like Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams now allows you to record your meetings, save them to Microsoft Stream, and provide transcripts. Searching for keywords in the transcript allows you to go directly to the portion of the meeting that most interests you.
  • Cloud Video Interop: Now you can use your existing room technology investments into Teams. Different partners (including Polycom, BlueJeans, and Pexip) have already announced their legacy devices can now be full-fledged audio/video participants in Teams meetings.

Firstline Workers

  • Home: This is a new mobile experience that allows firstline workers to see the most important and relevant information for their day at a glance. They’ll be able to clock in, clock out, and find out who’s working during different shifts.

Advisicon Microsoft Team Mobile features

  • Shifts: This allows managers of firstline workers to be able to post schedules, seek schedule input, and say goodbye to bulletin boards.

Microsoft Teams Preview of Mobile Features

Here is what’s coming up early next year for Microsoft Teams:

Security and Compliance

  • Data Loss Prevention: Much like what we have today in SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, DLP policies will allow you to review channels in private chats for sensitive and or blocked information.

Dynamic Group Management

  • Create Office 365 Groups: Help with the administrative overhead by adding or removing users by creating Office 365 groups with a dynamic membership roll.

We use these additions to Microsoft Team daily. If you haven’t tried Microsoft Teams, let us know how we can help you with this excellent tool.
