Free PM Productivity Tools We Dare You Not to Love

Free project management tools

“You can’t expect to meet the challenges of today with yesterday’s tools and expect to be in business tomorrow” ~ Unknown Smart Person

Effective project management is all about efficiency, and what could be more efficient than free tools that work overtime to organize and streamline your process? Our team at Advisicon is deeply committed to bringing you the very best resources, making each moment of your day more lucrative and exciting!

The following tools are tried and true – we stand by them to deliver. Let us know what you think!

Screenrecorder

Learning new skills can be tough, but having to repeat training steps over and over is a major time drain. This simple tool references and documents a workflow process or step-by-step instructions so others can keep and review it again and again. Just record your process and share!

Screenrecorder records the whole screen or a single window and then saves each clip in a Windows Media Video (WMV) format. You can even add audio, guiding others through each step, for enhanced understanding, the first time around.

TechNet at Microsoft references this tool often – it was designed by one of their engineers.

Zoomit

If you’ve worked in Project Management for a while, you may recall Zoomit, one of the tools offered with the Windows 3.0 release. This simple tool helped individuals see your screen more clearly at a time when projector technology still had a long way to go.

Nowadays, this utility enables you to zoom into any area of your screen, drawing in colors and emphasizing or underscoring items you wish to share or present. Microsoft uses Zoomit as a part of their Sysinternals tools, and it continues to help presenters amp up their game.

Trello

How do we love ye, Trello, let us count the ways!

If you’re a visual learner, Trello is 100% for you. This task management system allows you to create a working board with task cards that you arrange and assign. This tool provides phenomenal visual planning for simple-to-moderately-complex projects. Just drag and drop cards between your lists to show your progress and the phase each task is in. You can tag as many users to a card as you need and add/reorder lists depending on the project.

Trello offers graphics and icons to help you label cards and have conversations with people assigned to each. All in all, this tool works well for keeping short-term or visually basic projects organized and moving forward.
