Put Your Data Front and Center with Graphical Reports

Did you know that there are a variety of improved elements of Excel that can help you produce charts, graphs, and reports? These are a built-in part of Excel, do not require a lot of technical know-how, and can help you organize your processes and share measurable results more efficiently. Here are some tips that will help support the charting and graphing process of your business.

How to Chart with Maps:
First, click on the Insert Tab in the Excel’s ribbon. You will see a section called “My Apps” where there are a variety of tools available.

If you want to use charting maps, begin by creating some rows and columns for the data. Be sure to label with the names of locations or cities, being specific if there are duplicates. Once you have listed the values in the rows and columns, highlight the data and click on the Bing Map’s App. Next, click “trust this app” and you will be able to use the data with the charting app.

You will then be able to zoom in and out, format the colors of the chart, and apply other chart settings as needed.  In just minutes, you’ll be able to provide an accurate visual of the data in pie chart diagrams with your specific data.

How to Chart with People Graph:
There are other charting options, including People Graph. To use this function, simply follow the steps above for inserting data, with the understanding that the People Graph will only use two columns of data. You will be prompted to add the title and from there, you will be able to format the chart quickly.

To increase the size of your graph, simply drag the re-sizing handles to make it bigger. You will be able to click on the settings icon and with just a few clicks, you’ll be able to format symbols, change the title, and add different colors or themes.

These graph and charting options will not only help you make you more effective with your charting while using Excel, but save you significant time and give you amplified results with just a few clicks of your mouse.  The best part is, this is just the tip of the iceberg – there are a lot more options in the apps section of Excel, so click on the Apps tab and start exploring. These Excel tools are incredibly easy to use and beneficial in helping organize and display your company’s important data.
